Undergraduate Information

Are you Interested in Public Health?

Public health offers diverse career options that range from environmental safety — identifying and tracking biohazards to keep communities safe — to community education — creating programs that support health promotion and disease prevention — to measuring the impact of health policy on access to care.

The College of Public Health and Health Professions offers concentrations in all five core areas of public health:

  • Biostatistics
  • Environmental Health
  • Epidemiology
  • Health Management and Policy
  • Social and Behavioral Sciences

Given the breadth of possible public health careers, students with any undergraduate degree can apply to the public health program. In addition, students who qualify can take advantage of the combined-degree program. You complete both a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Public Health while saving a full semester (i.e. 15 credit hours) of time.

A public health minor also is available to undergraduates in any major. The minor is a 15-credit program specifically designed for students going into non-public health careers who can benefit from public health knowledge in the delivery of their services. More information is available from public health or you can call 352-273-6443.
