Earlier this month, the UF Admissions Office welcomed the newest members of the Gator Nation–the freshman students who will comprise the Class of 2022. On Friday, February 9, approximately 14,000 newly admitted Gators saw their dreams become reality as soon as their application status page revealed that one amazing word: Congratulations. This past week was busy for our team as we sympathized (and yes, even cried) with applicants who did not receive their desired admissions decision. Each year’s freshman applicant pool becomes increasingly more competitive, but this year’s applicant pool was by far one of the most competitive we have reviewed. We received about 40,000 applications for 6,400 seats in the 2018 freshman class.
The academic and personal profiles of our incoming Gators are perhaps the highest achieved by any UF admitted class.
The Class of 2022:
Average Academic Core GPA: 4.4
Average SAT: 1360
Average ACT: 30
Many factors are taken into consideration when selecting a freshman class. Although we reviewed and carefully selected applicants who demonstrated exceptional academic records, we also chose applicants who displayed a commitment to service, creativity, and progress. Our newly admitted students are leaders, dreamers, innovators, and visionaries in their communities.
More than 600 students were admitted into Innovation Academy, a cutting-edge program designed to foster creativity and innovation through interdisciplinary collaboration with 29 majors.
Over 2,200 new students were admitted into Pathways to Campus Enrollment, also known as PaCE. With our limited physical space on UF’s campus, PaCE provides expanded opportunities to offer admission to more of the best and brightest freshman applicants. PaCE combines online and campus-based learning, and students who accept this offer are Gators from day one. This program is a good fit for students who desire a flexible class schedule or wish to study from a different geographical location.
“We are inspired by and impressed with the students who plan to join our Gator Nation and cannot wait to see the ways they will contribute to the betterment of our community and classrooms,” UF President Kent Fuchs said.
Congratulations to our incoming Class of 2022! We look forward to showing you why it truly is “Great to Be a Florida Gator”!
