On February 8, UF admissions will release admissions decisions for the freshman class. This date has been on many minds since early November when the application closed for the UF Class of 2023. Applicants have been anxiously awaiting their results, and admissions officers have been poring over applications, ensuring each one has been thoroughly read.
Decision day is a big day for everyone, and regardless of the outcome, the waiting period often leaves students and parents with worry and concern. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. Here are a few tips that will help alleviate worries during the next few days.
Be Proud of Your Effort, No Matter What
We can’t reiterate this one enough. Getting accepted or denied to a specific college or university has no bearing on who you are as a person or how successful you will be in the future. UF does not hold the key to success; it is only one of many roads that can take you there.
Get Yourself Into a Good Mental Place
Maybe you want to grab an early dinner with friends after school or get in a good workout before admissions results are released. Regardless of what you’re doing, you’ll want to make sure that your mind is in a good, healthy place before logging on. No matter what the decision is, you’ll feel better about it when you’re calm and clear.
Find a Setting that is Comfortable for You
Videos of students opening their college decisions in a roomful of people are very popular. For some, having all of your family around to celebrate or comfort you is what you need. For others, having one or two parents, or even opening the decision alone is what you prefer. There is no right or wrong way to open a decision—only what is best for you.
Check Your Status before Decision Day to ensure your Login Credentials Work
After months of waiting for your decision, the last thing you want to do is have to wait through the weekend to get your answer. Each year, there are students who are unable to log in to view their decisions. Take time to ensure you are able to check your status before the afternoon of Friday, February 8th. Our office does not have access to your Coalition username or password. You will need to do a password reset through the Coalition for Access, Affordability and Success login page in order to gain access to check your status.
Our admissions team will be here to guide you through the decision process. Please do not hesitate to reach out before and after decisions are released if you have any questions.
