Now That You're a Gator

You are about to begin one of the most exciting times in your life as a UF student. The Office of Admissions wants you to have an easy transition as you continue your academic journey. Complete these steps to ensure a successful transition to the University of Florida.

ASAP: Get your Gator credentials

As a new student, you will need a UF identification number (UFID) to perform many necessary functions. You can locate your UFID by clicking the "Click here for UFID" link on your application status page. Log in using your MyAdmissions credentials.

ASAP: Connect with Gatorlink

A few days after you are admitted, you will receive an automated email that will prompt you to create your Gatorlink username and password. This account name is public and is used as your access to most UF information systems as well as will become your UF email address.

ASAP: FAFSA and Financial Aid Information

To apply for financial aid, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.ed.gov. The FAFSA opens on October 1 of each year. To receive the best financial aid offer, complete the FAFSA as early as possible.

By May 1: Secure Your Spot in #UF24

Confirm your enrollment with a $200 non-refundable tuition deposit, paid with a credit card. This deposit will be applied to your student account.

Dive into Gator Life

Preview sets you up for success with a mandatory on-campus orientation that will help you embark on your new academic journey at UF. This is when students will register for their classes. All Gators must attend, so be sure to sign up. Registration details will be sent by email in March 2020.

Upload Your Gator 1 Photo

To eliminate waiting in line at Preview to obtain your Gator 1 card, upload a clear head/shoulders photo of yourself at least 48 hours before arriving at Preview via the Gator 1 Preview Express website. Your Gator 1 card is your official campus photo ID that allows you to access many campus services.Call: 352-392-8343.

Submit Health Information

Every new UF student is required to show proof of having health insurance and certain immunizations before arriving on campus. In order to register for classes, students must submit a completed UF Mandatory Immunization Health History form. NOTE: If needed, these immunizations may be obtained from the Student Health Care Center on the UF campus in Gainesville. Call:352-294-2925.

On-Campus Housing

Complete the application and submit the $25 nonrefundable housing application fee. Applying establishes your priority for housing assignment only and does NOT guarantee an offer of residence hall space.

Send UF Your Final Transcripts

All offers of admission are tentative until the Office of Admissions receives your final high school and/or college transcripts. You must make arrangements to send your final high school and/or college transcripts to our office before July 15. Your school cannot automatically do this.
