UF Admissions Guide

Everything a prospective undergraduate Gator needs to know.

There's a spirit

Our student energy shakes the ground. No really. It literally shakes the ground.

Students cheer on the Gators during a home game in The Swamp, our stadium that holds more than 80,000 fans.

We say it... and we believe it.

Whether we're rallying together at the end of the third quarter to Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" or solving some of the world's biggest problems, as a campus and a family, we'r dedicated to a better tomorrow. In all kinds of weather…

Gators stick together.

We are the Gator Nation

Century Tower (Established in 1853), a campus icon, was built in 1953 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the university. It houses a cast-bell carillon that is played several times per day.

OPTIONS

Admission options as individual as you.

Starting at UF as an on-campus freshman in the summer or fall is not the only way to become a Gator. There are multiple paths to undergraduate admission through the freshman and transfer application process.

Academic Pathways

PATHWAY TO CAMPUS ENROLLMENT (PaCE)

PaCE offers a blended learning model starting with our top-ranked UF Online program. After completing a total of 60 credit hours and all prerequisite courses, you can complete your undergraduate degree on campus. PaCE students can move to Gainesville while taking online courses and opt in to campus fees to participate in campus activities. There is no separate application for PaCE and only those who select one of the PaCE majors will be considered for the program.

INNOVATION ACADEMY (IA)

Employers are always looking for creative people who embrace the unknown. UF's Innovation Academy (IA) prepares students to thrive in a culture of innovation. This distinctive program embeds an innovation minor into more than 28 majors, leading to a convergence of creative ideas centered around entrepreneurship, ethics and leadership. The IA spring-summer schedule gives students the fall semester to pursue internships, study abroad, research and other opportunities. You can apply to IA as part of your freshman application.

TRANSFER

Thousands of students transfer to UF each year, most after completing an Associate of Arts (AA) Degree. As a junior-level student who has earned an AA degree or completed at least 60 credits of coursework, you can transfer to UF to complete your degree. Each college and major have varying prerequisite course requirements and GPA expectations for admission.

The PaCE program gave Cooper time to make important connections and get involved on campus. He served as the UF student body president and is now in graduate school.

Learn with Honors

Personal attention, large resources and a network to lean on.

We can't wait for you to bring your bright mind to UF and to join the UF Honors Program, offering smaller classes taught by leading faculty members. Honors also offers research, study abroad, service learning and internships. You'll study and live with high-achieving classmates who will be part of your supportive community as you bring your wisdom to the world.

Check out the UF Admissions' YouTube channel @UFAdmissions for more Gator Tea content and other helpful videos.

Katie, a biology major, spills the Gator Tea on her AI certificate, her research with the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, and some stellar advice. Plus a-maize-ing corn puns.

Lakshay credits the Innovation Academy for starting his UF experience and shares how he found a community in several places on campus.

Monish shares his experience meeting new people and finding leadership experiences through Student Government. Not to mention he serves Gator Tea on election season and that big 5.

Payton, a nursing student with a passion for medical care, delivers ALL the Gator Tea: advice on the weather in Gainesville, the joys of dorm life, and breaking out of your shell.

It All Begins Here. We want to get to know YOU.

You are more than a number and more than your test score. We aren't just looking for students to attend classes — we are looking for future Gators who will enrich our community of learners, leaders and thinkers. Your background, extracurricular activities and academic achievement all play a role in our review. Getting to know you is the best part of our job!

APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID

Although you must be offered admission to UF before you are considered for financial aid, you should apply for aid as soon as possible after submitting your admission application.

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov starting October 1, 2024. To receive the best financial aid offer, students should complete the FAFSA as early as possible.
  • Check your UF application status. By March 2025, admitted freshmen who have filed the 2025-26 FAFSA will receive an official aid offer online at one.uf.edu. One or more of the four types of aid (grants, scholarships, part-time employment, loans) are usually offered to eligible students to make up their financial aid offer.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Merit Scholarships

Most of the financial aid at UF is awarded based on financial need; however, UF awards a limited number of merit-based scholarships. No separate application is needed beyond the application for admission. The scholarship review process is holistic, and there is no automatic awarding of UF scholarships based on test scores or GPA. Students who are selected for a merit-based scholarship will be notified shortly after receiving their admissions decision in February.
