The University of Florida, one of the top-ranked universities in the United States, receives applications from some of the brightest students in America and across the world. More than 6,000 international students are enrolled from 138 countries into our supportive campus culture. More than 97 percent of our freshman students return their sophomore year, and 91 percent of our students graduate within six years.

The UF International Center (UFIC) helps you become immersed in UF life from the start. Their staff assist students with visa and employment regulations, in addition to cultural and campus transition.

UF Navigators

UF is known for its strong school spirit and traditions. We have a creed: In All Kinds of Weather, Gators Stick Together. Our UF Navigators are currently enrolled UF students who help international students acclimate to campus and meet new friends from around the globe.


Visa at UF consists of 18 sub-organizations representing cultures from across the globe. More than 4,500 UF undergraduate, masters and doctoral students from all academic disciplines are part of VISA. This club participates in multiple community service activities throughout the year. Century Tower, a campus icon, was built in 1953 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the university. It houses a cast-bell carillon that is played several times per day.

International applicants follow the same freshman application process as all other students. All freshmen receive equal, uniform holistic admissions review irrespective of their secondary curriculum origin or citizenship.

Real-world, hands-on learning.

The Center for Undergraduate Research connects you with faculty mentors for hands-on, real-world learning. You can also work with faculty on their research through the Undergraduate Research Scholars Program.

Application Timeline:

  • AUG 8 Application opens. Complete the online application at
  • NOV 1 Priority deadline for freshman application
  • NOV 15 Submit transcripts
  • DEC 1 Last day to submit test scores and academic credentials
  • FEB 24 Admission decision notification for priority applications
  • MAY 1 $200 tuition deposit deadline to confirm UF enrollment

Freshman Application Requirements:

English Proficiency

Applicants whose native language is not English are encouraged to submit a TOEFL (5812), IELTS or Duolingo English Test score for demonstrated English Proficiency. Score reports must be sent electronically directly from the testing agency.


Submit your secondary school transcripts in the native language and official word-for-word English translation. At least three years of coursework, including courses in-progress, are required for admissions. UF accepts for review electronic uploads by your college counselor to the Common Application or by individually uploading your documents to your application status page.

Submit Test Scores

Official SAT or ACT scores are required for admission to the University of Florida. Students may self-report their SAT or ACT test scores on their application status page or have them sent directly from the testing agency. School Code for SAT: 5812, ACT: 0758.

The Gainesville Regional Airport, located six miles from campus, is serviced by Delta and American airlines.
